In September, we hosted an extremely successful training day at the stunning Golden Valley property, generously shared with us by our president Jess’s father, Glen Whatley.
Riders had the chance to practise a range of key skills and events, and we were lucky enough to welcome local whip cracking professional Aaron Worldon (Worldon Whips), who joined our wonderful team of volunteers. Riders rotated through events led by Aaron who inspired us with his whip cracking expertise, Charles who shared his wisdom on how to effectively work cattle when guiding riders using the mechanical cow, and Jess who put together an impressive handy stock horse course with a wide variety of obstacles for riders to navigate with the support of herself and Judy on the day.
After working up an appetite, everyone tucked into a mouth-watering BBQ—complete with Judy’s famous coleslaw—before heading out on a trail ride through Glen’s gorgeous bushland led by Danielle.
Even though the temperatures were chilly, the weather held up and the views of the snow-capped mountains made for a spectacular backdrop!
It was a fantastic turnout of enthusiastic riders who encouraged one another, pushed their skills, and most importantly, had a lot of fun. At the end of the day, that’s exactly what we’re all about!
