An unexpected beauty.
Following winding roads through native bush, you wonder where they will lead. And then, a world all its own opens up into the Dublin Plains.
A sheltered and welcoming large opening of pasture stretching out before you.
Like a surprise, the view reaches the heart.
And a sigh of just… Wow! That’s the best words I can find to describe it.
And nestled by the creek, the shack.
Fire crackling.
Dogs dance.
Laughter, conversation and warmth inside.
We gather, starting the walk at about 10.30am. It included a variety of hills, straight walks and downhill moments through the native scrub. The walk was a perfect length for someone new to the hiking experience. We rested for lunch at one point. Sitting upon the log edges of a bridge with water running underneath. And above us a large bird’s nest built high up in the gumtree tops.
The highlight of the walk for me was the path along the top of the Dublin Plains. Looking back towards the hut was truly spectacular. The day’s weather also shares that description, the clouds were kind to us, defying the forecast of hail and snow. We all enjoyed breathing in the cold air and feeling the gentle sun shine through the air.
It’s a true privilege, a true privilege, to be able to see such a beautiful patch of the Tasmanian high country.
